In April 2011, Nina Dobrev was cast as Candace in the film adaptation of The Perks of Being a Wallflower, alongside Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, Paul Rudd, and Ezra Miller. Shooting began in May of that year in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and she completed her scenes on June 27, 2011. The film was released on September 21, 2012. In August 2014, she starred alongside Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. in the 20th Century Fox comedy Let's Be Cops.
